Acronyms such as NSFW, BDSM, BBW, PL, CD etc are best to describe what i witnessed on 15-18 of April, in Athens, were the Erotic Art Festival was held. Actually i went two of the four days of the event. The first day i didn’t know what to expect… ok, i had an idea, some half-famous porn stars, strippers from the local clubs, some Greek half-celebrities, BDSM show, and lots of visitors holding their mobile phones, tablets or cameras literally inside the performers. All that was there, and i returned home with a lot of interesting pictures. I have to say the BDSM room was the most interesting in a documenting aspect, since the images had “stronger” subjects, and the people were fewer so i could move closer to my subjects, without having 30-40 people pushing me to capture one close up mobile phone photograph of boob or an ass.
The second day, i knew where and how to move, and what to expect, since the festivals’ schedule was the same each day. So i thought i would focus on things i missed the previous day, or re-shoot some things that i failed to capture the way i wanted. I completely ignored the porn stars stage, and the main strippers stage, and focused on what was going on around, capturing spontaneous moments, and also spent more time in the BDSM room in which most of my “good” pictures were shot. It was the only room that had character, and culture.
