Today it was the 33rd Athens classic Marathon, so a good chance to make a photo story. The weather was really nice, unfortunately for the athletes, and unfortunately for me i didnt have a press pass to join the pro photographers area, so i mainly focused on the people rather than in the field. I was lucky enough to arrive at Kallimarmaron stadium at the exact time when the winner arrived. so i waited a little near the finish line to make a few pictures, plus i waited for the first female to finish.
Since i got my winners, it was time to walk around the stadium and shoot whatever got my attention. Lots of people from distant countries were taking part, or just attending and cheering, honoring the competiton. Everybody was kind enough to pose for me whenever they caught me pointing my camera at them
On my way leaving the stadium i caught a few portraits of random athletes that captured my attention
I have to pay respect to my good friend Dimitris Panagiotakis, who run for the first time, and finished, and was one of the main reasons i went there
I didnt manage to shoot any celebrities, but i was happy to accidentally come accross with an old classmate, Vasilis Manias, who is celebrity enough in my book, so here you go
I left for last one athlete, of the many who carried a banner, who wanted to share a message.
…oh and a girl from Brazil
